Brett Ratner Not Directing Escape From New York

A while ago we bought you the bad news that Brett Ratner would be directing the Escape From New York remake. Yes we shared your grief, felt your pain, but now we extremely happy to bring you some great news. Brett Ratner is no longer going to direct the Snake Pliskin after all.

The Rush Hour director announced at the Savannah Film Festival that yes, the film would be happening but without him attached.

It’s not yet known who will be replacing Ratner, but we known Gerard Butler (300) is attached to the New Line project. Before the Ratner rumours surfaced, it was suggested that Len Wiseman would direct. With his Gears of War film pushed back due to budget problems, could Wiseman find the time to direct Escape From New York after the third Underworld movie?
