40GB Sony Playstation 3 with 65nm chip: lower power consumption PS3
For those of you who thought that you were getting a bargain with the 40GB Sony Playstation 3 is its lower price tag, you will be amazed to know that you also get a 65nm version of the Cell inside this games console. What this means for you is your PS3 now has a lower power consumption, so instead of 200 watts which the old PS3 produced, this newer Playstation now produces just 135 watts.

The 65nm chip is not the only thing that Sony swapped around in the 40GB Sony Playstation 3; there is a new motherboard, a smaller heat pipe, and also a button battery. All of these extra features allow the PS3 to run quieter than early models.
