Ten unknown actors have landed roles alongside comic genius Simon Pegg in a new film after auditioning on social networking site Myspace. The comedy, titled Faintheart is set in the world of battle re-enactments and is due to hit cinema screens next summer.
Movie fans on MySpace selected the films director and several of the actors after producers had asked people to audition online. The director who MySpace users chose for the film was Vito Rocco after 500,000 people viewed the short he submitted.
Faintheart follows the story of Richard, a sales assistant who spends his weekends as a Mighty Norse Warrior in battle re-enactments. Richard’s long-suffering wife Cath is sick of living in the Middle Ages and throws him out, leading him to an epic quest to win her back.
The ten unknowns will star alongside Simon Pegg, Auf Wiedersehen Pet’s Tim Healy and Spaced star Jessica Hynes (formerly Stevenson). The lucky MySpace users who will also star include University student Phil Lester, and single parent Rosalyn Scanlon.
The movie is being described as the UK’s first ‘user-generated feature film’ and is being backed by Film4 and the UK Film Council.

Roz is on my course at college…she never turns up and always gets by by saying people in her family have died etc…maybe they have but we all work really hard and she does nothing…just blags it…we sort of wish she would leave…I hope that Simon knows that he has employed someone who is pretty much all show. It’s a shame that someone like her gets something good when the rest of us work hard.
