Suicide bomber on a cycle kills 27 Police in Iraq, 20 wounded

A suicide bomber who was riding a cycle has killed 27 policemen and also wounded another 20 at a police base in Baquba, Iraq. The bomber struck the base while recruits were outside, which Sky News believes was timed just for this day’s training. Sky News reports that the bomber was with these recruits when the bomb was detonated.

Baquba is the capital of Diyala, and is a province where not only Al Qaeda and Shi’ite Muslim militias but other Sunni Islamist militants operate. More of these attacks are taking place since the US military launched a major offensive against Al Qaeda. This is not the first of these suicide bombing and sadly it will not be last, many wonder if this is a war on terror that can be won.
