As the weather begins to get colder and we start to turn our central heating on, the best place for our little rodent’s friends is indoors. But we certainly have other ideas about these free loading fury animals.

One extreme case of rodent infestation is when an 80 year old grandmother was crushed to death by rubble after rats chewed through a gas pipe causing an explosion.

Malcolm Tarling from ABI says “Most policies will not cover this sort of damage” and “So if mice chew through the wiring and your TV goes on the blink you won’t be covered. The same goes for furniture, floor surfaces or building fabric”.

The other factor to consider is that rodents carry disease which is another concern. Its worth checking your insurance policy to see if you are covered for the fury little pets entering your home. Another thing to check is if you are covered if the need arises to call on the services of a pest control firm. The cost for their use could be in the region of £200.00.
