Lee Evans is set to break his own record for the biggest ever comedy gigs, attracting an audience of 15,000 at London’s 02 Arena.
All of the seats for the first two comedy shows sold out in less than an hour earlier this month which means the shows that will be held next October will almost certainly smash the comedian’s 2005 total of 10,108 fans at the MEN Arena, Manchester.
He joked: “I’d always wanted to be in the Guinness Book of Records. I thought I was going to do it by eating jam pies, or being the bloke with the most spoons in his ear or something. It’s amazing and I’m so pleased by how well it’s all gone so far. The 02 is the biggest venue I’ve ever played, so it’s pretty daunting. I’m scared sh**less actually but I can’t wait to get back out on tour again.”
Guinness World Records editor Craig Glenday said: “By attempting to beat his own record, Lee is well and truly securing his place at the top of the comedy ladder.”
