Halloween party fire destroys Cable Car Ride at Alton Towers
A cable car ride was destroyed in a fire at a Halloween party at Alton Towers; the theme park has now reopened.

The fire happened yesterday at 7.30pm at the Skyride cable car station, during Scarefest, this is a special event for Halloween, and the ride was closed at the time of the fire so thankfully no-one was hurt. The damage to the ride was very minimal as just the roof of the station was destroyed.

50 firefighters from Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service were called out to the blaze to get the fire under control; the park was evacuated while firefighters tackled the blaze. Sky News reports that Alton Towers has now re-opened but the cable car ride will remain closed until all the way until November 11th, which is the end of the season.
