Halle Berry has spoken out violent childhood
While speaking on US TV show The Actor’s Studio Halle Berry has spoken out for the first time about her nightmare upbringing and revealed that her father used to beat up her sister and mother.

Halle admitted that she had felt guilty for not being able to stop dad Jerome from being abusive.

Halle’s father died in 2003, he divorced her mother when she was four years old, but he moved back in with the family when she was 10 because her mother thought it would be best for the children.

Halle told James Lipton that “The hard part for me was he never abused me, I was dealing with a lot of guilt because I saw my sister go through terrible beatings. I felt helpless and like a coward because I didn’t do anything and couldn’t do anything. I spent many of the early years of my life trying to make sense of all that and recover and find my self-esteem.”

Halle said that she now uses the bad experiences of her childhood to support charities that help abused women.

I think that she has done well for her self considering the kind of childhood that she had.
