Brad Bird To Direct 1906 Adaptation?

It’s well known that Brad Bird, the man who bought us The Incredibles, is likely to adapt 1906 for his next film. 1906 is the novel by James Dalessandro, which is a fictionalized account of the earthquake in 1906 San Francisco.

While promoting Ratatouille in the UK, Bird spoke with Rotten Tomatoes about his future prospects. Although he doesn’t outright name 1906, it’s obviousl what he’s talking about.

“I was starting to work on a live action film a couple of years before I came on board Ratatouille so I’m going to return to that and I’m quite excited by that idea. I don’t want to tell you too much about just yet, I’m not really ready for that, but it’s a historical-based thing and I think it’s going to be pretty wild.”

Have you read 1906? Do you think it would make a good film?
