A-Rod announcement: New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez ends his contract
By: Peter Chubb | October 29, 2007
New York Yankees baseball star A-Rod has announced that he is to end his contract with his team, Alex Rodriguez made this announcement while in the middle of game 4 of the baseball World Series. This has now ended months of speculation, but it is a strange decision to end a contract while he still has three years left on his NYY. Scott Boras, Yahoo Sports reports that A-Rod’s agent did not let Brian Cashman, the general manager know in person, instead he gave him the news by voice mail.
As Alex Rodriguez will not see out the final three years of his contact with The New York Yankees, he will have to fortify the $72 million that he would have earned. His original 10-year deal was worth a record $252 million, so it is not as if the star will go hungry.
What are your thoughts of A-Rod cutting his contract short with the New York Yankees?
