This new technology will help remedy safety and communications problems during disaster relief; also the “smart” suit has just been given the approval of the European Space Agency.
I-Garment claims these 3 problems during disaster relief will be remedied:
- The problem of trying to send graphical information (maps, satellite data) during an emergency that could help emergency teams to manage dangerous situations better
- The lack of information as to the whereabouts of the safety workers during emergency efforts
- The unavailability of communications channels

In a nutshell: The “smart” suit will monitor a rescue workers position and his/her vital signs via sensors strategically located on the suit, this data is sent via satellite technology to the headquarters of the particular department.
