Guitar Hero 3 and Manhunt 2: Give the Nintendo Wii a boost or not?

Guitar Hero 3 and Manhunt 2
We spoke about the apparent lack of software sales on the Nintendo Wii earlier today and following on from that, many Nintendo Wii owners know and are looking forward to buying Guitar Hero 3 and Manhunt 2.

The question is: will these two major titles make the weak Nintendo Wii software sales increase dramatically.

If you’re a wii owner, will you be buying Guitar Hero 3 or Manhunt 2?

For me Guitar Hero 3 looks a great buy and one which would be great with some friends over (just what the Wii was built for).

So how much of an impact do you think Guitar Hero 3 and Manhunt 2 will have on the Wii?

    no,

the wii is living off of people that don’t play anything but Wii Sports. Nintendo dropped the ball on the wii by not offering robust online support and games for the hard core gamer. instead taking the wii down the same path as the DS, kiddy land.

Can someone please stop the emotional 360 fanboys from claiming that the Wii has a low attachment rate? It doesn’t take much effort to go here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_video_games#Wii and find that the Wii has sold 65.81 million Wii games and 7.8 million virtual console games. It doesn’t take much extra effort either to click on the foot note and go to page 22 of http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2007/071025e.pdf to find the Wii attachment rate in the Americas is 6.13 including Wii Sports and, for the 360 fanboys, 5.13 without Wii Sports. The Wii attachment rate is better than the 360 attachment rate in the same period. Yes, those figures are for software SALES UNITS, which does not include virtual console games. In fact, the PDF from Nintendo doesn’t even have the word “virtual.”
The Wii is a smash success. Please come out of lala land.

I have a wii, and I can’t find any DECENT games. They are mostly sloppy ps2 ports, or worse.

I don’t want to play 20 year old 2d games on it. There is no good online support, and I don’t see anything coming that looks that good, to me.

I have the wii and 360, honestly i love both, don’t see the whole point of the flaming goin on… anyways, wii’s fun, has some good games (madden 07’s amazing, mp3, zelda, trauma center), but i’m definitely waiting for 3rd party support to step up, i agree most are sloppy ports, but there’s some good looks on the horizon… but yea, i’m def waiting for online and third parties to step up… biggest disappointment would have to be lack of a headset, other than that, it’s amazing

Very well said Joe. Brad I’d be the first to admit that this has been one brutal year for us Wii owners, but the good games are right around the corner. Check out this small sample list out.

    10/29/07 Battalion Wars 2
    10/31/07 Manhunt 2
    11/13/07 Resident Evil Umbrella
    11/13/07 Smackdown 08
    11/13/07 Rayman Raving Rabbids 2

And that doesn’t even touch on Mario Galaxy, Mario Olympics, Nights and Fire Emblem; Radiant Dawn. Just to name a few.

That’s quite a stretch. Not every game currently out on the Wii is fantastic by any means, but there are certainly some decent ones (Heatseeker, Alien Syndrome, etc.) Then you have the great ones like Rayman Raving Rabbids and Metroid Prime 3.

“I don’t want to play 20 year old 2d games on it.”

Well, some people do. There are some gamers who, believe it or not, never got to experience the original Super Mario Bros. or the Donkey Kong Country series. Then there are people have broken/misplaced cartridges and want their favorite games in digital form. Finally, we can get imported games (Sin and Punishment, Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Worlds, etc.) that people can get a taste of. There’s nothing wrong with the classics, and there’ll even be some all-new content later on in the Wii Ware section.

“There is no good online support, and I don’t see anything coming that looks that good, to me.”

I agree that the Wii’s online is lackluster compared to that of the 360, but though it lacks the features it certainly makes up for it with some of the best multiplayer franchises of all time (Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Kart, etc.) Melee lasted a hell of a long time, and I expect Brawl to do even more for players since it’s online. I can’t quite say the same thing for Gears of War (good game, but to me it got a bit boring after playing a dozen matches in a row with little variation compared to Smash Bros.)

I love MY WII no matter what!!!!

  8. Peeved@product-reviews says:

Would someone PLEASE get that horrendous Guitar Hero III photoshop off this page? It’s an insult to the makers of guitar hero and the millions of people who know what the cover actually looks like.

  9. Brad II says:

If anyone cares, when I went to go pick up Guitar Hero III for the Wii, everywhere was sold out, but still had some (3-5) XBOX360 and like 40+ PS2/PS3 bundles left.

  10. jd says:

what about super mario galxy that game is going to be the shit
