I ordered my Xbox 360 a few months before it was due to be released and it was so popular I had to wait another one and half months after that to get my hands on an Xbox 360.
A lot of time has passed since then and I have seen my brothers 360 get the red ring of death and some friends.
Even my 360 got the 3 red lights once, but then after a day it started back up again (cannot understand that).
Now within the next year we are hearing of the 2nd-gen 65nm Xbox 360 due to be released, but who is waiting to buy an Xbox 360 when the second generation come out.
I know plenty of people that will never upgrade to Windows Vista without the first service pack, the same goes for first generation products.
Are you waiting for the Xbox 360 with a 65nm chip?

In reality this is just going to add support for those who haven’t decided whether or not to “Jump in” or Wait I mean “Play Beyond”. Seriously though I can’t help but think the new sku and bundles offered by MS will be the main reasons for future adoption. Lets face it even with the 40 gig and 4 so called AAA releases (Lair, Warhawk, Heavonly Sword, and now R@C) PS3 worldwide sales are still tracking way under MS and Nintendo. Not to mention that Developers are coming out of the wood work to bash the PS3 and I’m not just refering to that guy from GH but rather Gabe, Carmack, and the guy from Kaos. It also seems that despite rumors that AC was having trouble fitting on DVD9 it managed to and has better AI on the 360 version. Ubisoft has said several times that AI is easier on the 360 and touted that as the reason SC conviction couldn’t be done it.So basically although it helps to have Falcon on shelves consumers have a hell of a lot to make them want a 360, it is called SOFTWARE.

It’s kinda funny, both my brother and I were waiting for the 65nm Xbox 360’s to come out only because we know that the RROD is involved with some heat issues from the older chip sets. My brother actually found an Xbox 360(Halo edition) two weeks ago with the new 65nm chip set (I believe it can be found by checking the lot# on the box, supposedly anything 734 or over has the new 65nm chip set). Well, one week later his 360’s disc drive crapped out. He got it replaced, but now I’m just not sure if the 360 is even worth a purchase.

I have jumped ship..gone is my 360 in place for the PS3..The games are coming now on the PS3 and they all look so much more fun - I got Resistance with the PS3 and its the only FPS I have ever finished!! The games are better than anything I have played before I swear.
My 360 was cool and I never had the 3 rings of death, but all the games just felt a bit PC like.
Anyway I dont buy consoles because of 65nm chips, I dont even care about that - its build quality, games and the brand that sell consoles to most people.

Simon, your not that much of a gamer if resistance is the only FPS you have beat. Seriously why would you miss out on Mass Effect for Ratchet and Clank are you 12?

Are you by chance playing unreleased games acquired through time travel…
or…does your dad happen to own majority of sony shares giving you access to games as they are being developed, and not having to wait for market release like thre rest of us
Or maybe your playing the elite thinking its the PS3
or maybe you have never owned a 360, and havent played any of its 200+ games

I don’t work for Sony, smart@$$. I like games more than the systems they are on, I play Halo 3 at my friends(and at my brother’s) and I would very much like to get a 360 but I’m just not sure about buying a system that has quality issues. I am really looking forward to games like Mass Effect and Ninja Gaiden 2. I’m no system fanboy! If it’s a good game and fun to play I won’t hesitate to get it, I don’t care if a game is on the 360, PS3, Wii, DS or PSP.

ive been waiting months….i had one made in 2005 it died i took it apart n sort of fixed it but it wasnt good enuff so i sold it.
i will demand i get a 360 wiv HDMI port (not cuz i use it but just cuz its the new mother board)
and 2007!
and not a hitachi drive!!!
now wiv halo 3 im dying to get it right now!!!
i will wait but.
p.s i herd even a newer chip is getting in them in a year or so??

I am not a massive gamer true, like alot of my friends we play for fun 2-3 hours a week. What can I say I like Resistance, Heavenly Sword, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, R&C. Are you telling me these games suck then you are being a Fanboy. I never said I hated my 360 I have just swapped it for a newer system, thats what happens you see. When a new more powerful machine comes out people buy it.

I’m 32, I have a family and a life outside of gaming - this is probably why I dont have as much time gaming as the rest of you. I like gadgets not just games. As for not owning a 360? Well I do own one although it is now in the spare room back in a box along with my Sega megadrive, SNES, N64, PS1 and PS2. People have different tastes and I prefer Playstation to 360 or PC. You have to admit 360 games are just feel like a PC game.
Why is everyone protective over 360 or PS3? All I was trying to say is I am not upgrading my 360 for another because Microsoft can’t build hardware and everyone knows this. Who is going to spend money upgrading a console that is just fixing on old model - you dont get better graphics, you dont get better sound, nothing?

Play beyond is what this gen is all about. Forget the ports of xbox 2 games, forget the hype of Halo (already forgotten), forget the ‘x’tras you pay for on the xobx 2 : online play, play and charge ($40 bucks for a single cable?), 120gb HD @ twice the cost, wireless networking @ twice the cost, DVD9 (last gen) and in the end it’s crap shoot on whether your console will startup. The Play Station 3 is already at full 65nm for the CPU & the GPU starting on Nov 2 with he 40gb SKU. Microsoft is still selling the 90nm in most units with some now using 65nm CPU. But the 65 nm GPU isn’t due out until next summer? Why even discuss the xbox 2? It was built with Sony in mind, from the controller to the name so skip the clone and go with the father of gaming, Play Station.

I had a launch system (never had a problem) but I wanted to upgrade to the Elite to get the HDMI and bigger hard drive. I would love to have waited for a 65nm system but when MS extended the warranty for 3 years for RRoD issues that was good enough for me. Really, though, I was expecting the GPU to also be 65nm and that’s not the case in this revision. I sold my launch system to a friend, bought my Elite and am very happy.
I may buy another one for the bedroom when the GPU goes 65nm. Less ventilation in the entertainment system back there so the cooler running system would be a big plus (hopefully it will be quieter too by then - the fans and DVD drive are pretty loud although in my living room it doesn’t matter that much since the TV tends to be louder anyway).

Has the 65nm 360 not been released yet?
The cheap 40gb PS3 out next week has a new 65nm lower wattage & lower heat processor that only uses 135w.
BTW does anyoe else remeber those idiotic claims people were throwing around when the PS3 was launched that it uses twice as much power as the 360? To try and stir up nagativity eople were actually saying it uses 380w when in actual fact under load in games it uses 199w comparded to 185w for the 360.

I would love to swap my noisy xbox for a quiet one. But I will probably get a 40gb PS3 first with the new lower price.
It still has the 90nm chips, but the reviews say it is almost silent now.
Noise is a big issue if a console is getting used as a movie player also.
