Remember a few months back when a first edition of Harry Potter sold for £9,000, well yet another first edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone has been sold and this time the book managed to sell for £19,700 at the Christie’s auction house in London. This is great news as the book was only estimated to fetch between £8,000 - £12,000.
BBC News also reports that there was a publisher’s proof copy of the Harry Potter book at the auction, which was signed with the misspelling of JA Rowling instead of JK Rowling on the title page; however this did not seem to deter people from bidding and sold for £2,250.
This will not be the last of the Harry Potter books from JK Rowling going to auction, and in the future they could sell for even more money.
