British MPs propose to relax early abortion law
October 25, 2007 | Filed under News

The abortion laws have not changed much in the last 40 years, but it now seems as if this law could be receiving an extensive liberalization from MPs. They are planning to put it to a vote that women can seek an abortion of informed consent, this will mean that they plan to drop the requirement for two doctors signatures. Also the plan is to perform the second stage of the medical termination at the women’s home instead of at a clinic or hospital.
The Times Online reports that this proposed new abortion law will ask for nurses to carry out the procedure instead of doctors in the first trimester, this is up to 12 weeks. These new plans will likely go to the Commons next month, and if passed should make abortions easier. This will be great news for many, but it will likely cause outrage amongst anti abortion campaigners.
