The rift between Paramount and DreamWorks is widely known. Industry insiders have constantly claimed that a split will arrive sooner than later. With DreamWorks and Universal heads breaking bread together does it mean we’ll soon be seeing Universal/DreamWorks?
Nikki Finke of the deadline Hollywood daily has said,
“Jeff Zucker and Ron Meyer had lunch in the Universal Studios commissary today with Steven Spielberg and Stacey Snider — and everybody was all smiles. Talk about a virtual public announcement that a reunion between the studio and DreamWorks isn’t far behind!”
DreamWorks has definitely helped Paramount over the years. Just this year alone take a look at what DreamWorks has accomplished:
- Transformers: $701 million worldwide
- Shrek the Third: $792 million worldwide
- Disturbia: $116 million worldwide
- Blades of Glory: $166 million worldwide
- Dreamgirls: $154 millin worldwide
Paramount made a $1 Billion record back in July but that’s almost entirely due to the films from DreamWorks.
Do you think the Paramount/DreamWorks team is coming to a definite end?
