The Lone Ranger Remake Planned?

Westerns have been getting a bad press recently, but that’s all about to change. The writing team behind the massive Pirates of the Caribbean series have reteamed with who can only be described as a super-producer, Jerry Bruckheimer for the big-screen adaptation of The Lone Ranger.

The Lone Ranger is a masked Texas Ranger in the American Old West who, along with his trusty steed Silver, gallops around righting wrongs usually with a little help of a clever American Indian sidekick called Tonto.

This will be Hollywood’s third attempt at making the Lone Ranger. The first was a 1981 film titles The Legend of the Lone Ranger and the second, a WB 2003 television movie/plot, both of which didn’t go down too well.

Disney have yet to confirm the project, but according to Entertainment Weekly has claimed that Terry Rossio and Ted Elliot are “trying to create a new juggernaut for Bruckheimer to exploit”

I loved the Lone Ranger when I was younger, but I don’t think children nowadays would find it exciting or action-packed enough.

If you could hand-pick the star to play the new Lone Ranger, who would it be?
