The search is on for the British mother of a young girl who fell from a hotel balcony in Majorca. The seven-year-old girl, called Gianna Cooper is currently in a serious, but stable, condition in hospital.
The mother, Sara Cooper has been missing since her daughter Gianna was found on an office roof below the fifth-floor balcony. Mrs Cooper, along with her husband Ian and three children, had been staying at the Hotel Samoa in Calas de Majorca when Gianna fell at around 7.30am yesterday.
Gianna has already had surgery at the Hospital Universitario Son Dureta in Palma. It is reported the young girl has suffered from a broken jaw and internal injuries. A hospital spokeswoman has said the girl is stabilising and claimed Gianna was just five years old although a police spokeswoman disagreed.
She said: “The girl is very small and so could be taken to be younger than seven. We are looking for the mother but at this stage we do not want to speculate as to whether she was involved. We are searching for her in the area of Calas de Majorca which is an area containing mountains and beach.”
She added that police were watching the borders so if Mrs Cooper attempted to leave the island she would be spotted. The only routes out of the country are by plane or boat.
What do you make of this – if the mother had nothing to do with the fall why is she running away when her little girl needs her?
