Replaced By Mark Wahlberg

One day before shooting begins on The Lovely Bones, disaster struck. Ryan Gosling apparently left the film due to ‘creative differences’. He had already gained 20 pounds and grown a beard for the role. So, who can fill the void? Marky Mark of course! Yep, Mark Wahlberg has stepped in to replace Gosling in the Peter-Jackson adaptation of Alice Sebold’s novel.

Wahlberg will take the role of Jack Salmon, the grieving father of a 14-year-old girl from Pennsylvania who is murdered by her neighbour. The girl tells her story from heaven, showing the lives of the people around her and how they have changed, all while attempting to get someone to find her lost body.

Rachel Weisz will be playing the girls mother. I’m sure there is more of a story behind the last minute move, but it will be a while before it comes out of the woodwork.

What do you think of Mark Wahlberg being cast in The Lovely Bones?

As much as I love Ryan Gosling, I think Mark Wahlberg is better suited for the part.
