South Africa Win The Rugby World Cup 2007

South Africa has won the Rugby World Cup. What a game! England vs. South Africa was the final game of the Rugby World Cup 2007 and being English I couldn’t be prouder of our boys, even though we lost. The game was so intense, with South Africa dominating the first half. Percy Montgomoery opened the scoring with a three-pointer after Mathew Taite slipped, becoming isolated in the ruck.

Jonny Wilkinson equalised just 7 minutes later after South Africa’s Bryan Habana was called for lying on the tackled player, Paul Sackey. South Africa then pushed the margin to six points when they were awarded a penalty.

In the second half, the England boys came back refreshed and with a new drive. England were soon awarded a penalty with Jonny Wilkinson kicking for another 3 pointer. It seemed like England could pull back but South Africa were awarded another penalty, giving them a 6 point lead over England, which they continued to hold 53 minutes into the game.

It looked as if England’s dreams of retaining the cup were slowly slipping away as efforts for a try were continually stopped by an amazing South African defence.

England held their own, creating many chances to score. However, silly mistakes meant South Africa earned another penalty taking them from a 6 point lead to a wide margin of 9 points.

England bought on the big guns with Lawrence Dallaglio hoping to fasten the pace and close the point margin. South Africa ploughed on defending their lead. With 6 minutes to go, the 9 point lead South Africa had over England seemed set in stone, despite best efforts by Mathew Tait.

With two minutes to go the score was 6-15 to South Africa. For much of the game, South Africa has always held the ace card in the game, with their efforts resulting in them winning them the Rugby World Cup 2007

im really pleased u said you are proud of our boys, im 18 and i get so frustrated when people were saying {even our own country men} how did u do it when we beat our way to the final. im dont think this country gives enough backup to our acheivers. Even though we did lose today im incredibly proud to be English, we were the underdogs and kept pushing and strength that lead to us fighting our way to the final. the players shouldnt be too sad, they did a fantastic job and made their country incredibly proud. thank u!

    HERE KOMMIE BOKKE!!!
That was an awesome match…and yes the best team won!
But well done to England for putting up some sort a fight – have to commended. I totally agree with Boer, at least we played FAIR…and Percy the South African spirit by not getting all up about being shoved into a camera – that’s class the English seem to lack – no offence. Butch, John, Bryan, Percy, Os, Juan, Francois and the rest of the team are earthly gods and legends. I am humbled and proud to say I share the same colour blood as these warriors and the rest of the country. We always knew we were…no wait, ARE the best – now we have the cup to prove it!!!!
    SOUTH AFRICA YOU BEAUTE!!!!

it was obvious that Toby Flood didn’t push him into the camaras intentionally. They were miles away. what are u on 36-0, 6-15 and thats only because we didnt get the try we should have been awarded. silly mistakes by the England boys were the cue for SA to win. Both teams played excellently and it could have gone either way. so proud of our men who have amazing courage to bring back a terrible game starting at 36-0 to playing the the final. everyone could take a leaf out of their book.

Its amazing how the tension ran throughout the entire counrty… yet everyone in South Africa was confident in our team and went into the game with them in full spirits coming out proud to be South African. The smiles on the faces of our team were shared by each and every single South African that shared the proud moment. To every single team member of the Springboks, It has been a long time since this country has come together like this and I think it will be many years that will pass till everyone stops talking about the aura that filled our country on 20 October 2007. It took many many moments to pass to actually realise what happened after that final whistle went. The tears of happiness that fell from the face of Jake White were expressed in the same from many of our Rainbow Nation. …. Well Done Boks!!!!!

Its amazing how in today’s society, you take a game full of spirit and hopes and make it a key in our daily lives. We use the game to lift spirits, moral and out family lives on pricipals of character and effort. Why is it then that certain newspapers (non-South African) express negativity on a proportion showing their own ignorance. What a disappointment. Proudly South African! Well Done Bokke
