Xbox 360 Outsells PS3 5 to 1: Which Is Your Favourite Console?

Xbox360 EVERY TIME .. the graphics are excellent and the online play is 1st Class,,,,,,,,,I play “Oblivion” as often as my husband Glads92(gamertag) will LET ME !!!!! And heloves his Halo 3 and Madden NFL 08 and Gears of war of course..Microsoft keep up the VERY good work you do.. Sony , FORGET IT ALREADY ..!!

Which Xbox 360, which Playstation 3? The only console this generation that has been consistant has been the Wii. There are more random varients of the two more expensive consoles than I can keep track of, it’s madness. I would never buy either console, the 360′s terrible track record of failure and the Playstation becoming progressively worse hardware to buy. If the Playstation 3 with the full Playstation 2 compatability and a decent sized harddrive was available, I’d buy it. But the closest thing to a decently priced Playstation 3 isn’t worth buynig because it has no backwards compatability.

You guys should get a lot hits on this one. I prefer PS3 just so you know.
Sony also said that they are going to have a big holiday this year going strong to having a bigger 2008. They have not given up on holiday 2007 season

The 3 reasons that I love my XBOX360:

1. The GAMES. Why else do you buy a game console??

2. XBOX Live. Pretty damned stout online service for only 50 bucks a year.

3. Such easy integration into my existing home network. After all, it is Microsoft ya know.

Sony cares about ’07 sales, but what are they supposed to say? They can tell you about their plans for success in the future or admit their recent numbers are terrible.

One, you are correct, there will be LOTS of bashing going on in the comments before long here. I would love to have a PS3, I just havent been able to justify the purchase. The PS3 will have a ton of great games soon, so maybe this cheaper version will suit me. I dont have any PS2 titles to worry about!

So where is this 5 to 1? What are the figures? How were they compiled? I smell bullshit.

The funny thing about these NPD figures is that the PS3 is still selling at a steady rate. The large jump in X360 sales is only due to Halo3 – A real system seller.

But, now that Halo3 is out, that sales spike will possibly shrink. MS will still have a great christmass, but I think that Christmass 08 will be a completely different matter.

The 360 outsold the PS3 5 to 1 in September in the US. Good for 360. The only thing that would worry me though is that this is the biggest game on the 360 and it barely outsold the Wii and it can only outsell the PS3 (with its no games and high price tag) 5 to 1? Remember this is the best the 360 will get in terms of hype.

hey yer ps3 is heaps better then 360. the grathics are heaps better and i can prove it i got a 360 and a ps3 and put dem on full HD tvs and guess wat ps3 floged 360 and u might think that the games are gay but next year they are gona bring out heaps more new games. They did of course miss out the fact that Sony in total still sold more consoles in the US last month than Microsoft. And before people say ‘the psp and ps2 dont count’ of course they do. You are only saying they dont count because Microsoft dont have a handheld and they f****d up the Xbox or they would still be selling it. Its not Sony and Nintendo’s fault Microsoft dont have a good enough range of consoles to compete with them.

Sony and Nintendo are pissing on Microsoft from a great height even with Halo boosting their sales.

US September console sales by manufacturer:

Nintendo – 996,800
Sony – 618,500
Microsoft – 527,800

Japanese September console sales by manufacturer:

Sony – 613,623
Nintendo – 413,061
Microsoft – 10,574

So the total console sales in those 2 regions for September are:

Nintendo – 1,409,861
Sony – 1,232,123
Microsoft – 538,374

And that’s in the month that Microsoft released their biggest game and spent ridiculous amounts of money plugging it. Sony and Nintendo are vastly more popular with gamers than Microsoft. That is hard undeniable fact.

Sorry, graphically the PS3 is no better at all than the Xbox 360. The games are currently much much better for the 360, and most developers that at one time were exclusive Sony bitches, are going to be making games for both platforms. I am sure the PS3 will be fine, and if they ever get a game worth more than just pissing on, then I might even get one. The Wii was not included in this conversation because it is a whole different, simpler, form of entertainment, I do enjoy mine, but it is different in almost the same way the PSP, and Nintendo DS are different than the 360 and PS3. I hope that PS3 rebounds and at lest pushes Microsoft, but for now it is a failure and there are no games at all to speak of. So those 100,000 people who bought PS3 are really the victims here.

The PS3 has sold as well as the 360 did in its first year but its done so with a higher price, no AAA titles and its only been on sale in the EU for 9 months. The 360 also had no competition.

More importantly which console has the best software sales. I think its the 360 by a landslide. Also since everyone is always saying once you add in a HD-DVD and whatever the 360 is a worse deal I think its fair to say if you add backwards compatibility to the PS3 you should tack on the price of a PS2 as well so PS3 price + 150 for a PS2 dosent seem like a good deal anymore does it.

Why does everyone keep on forgetting about mass effect it comes out next month and and so does COD4 and assassins creed and also next year, end war, Fallout 3 exclusive to 360 so who really is going to have the best holiday this year and next year um… I would have to say the xbox 360 because who can trust sony there always re-dating things and holding back on stuff sony has no clue what they are doing, the game or community home is not going to be as great as they say, you cant even find your friends on psn what makes you think your going to find them on that Home game? Wow its so crazy how people just forget about these other awsome games that are coming out for the xbox 360. And why do you possibly think mario galaxy is going to sell consoles if there are nintendo fans out there that still has a gamecube and waiting for some mario game to come out for them to get a wii they are stupid wouldnt you think everyone that wanted a wii would have got it for the Zelda game look most wii are selling because some fat people out there heard about wii fitness and heard how many cals you burn and went out and and bought it for that reason. It should say xbox 360 selling the most and then the wii and then like ten spaces down the ps3 because right now the xbox 360 is out selling the two consoles because of halo3 and then it will still be out selling the two consoles in NOV because of mass effect. Thank you for posting that. I don’t see how anyone can call the PS3 a failure when it sold about the same as the 360 did when it was launched.

Please remember the 360 had no competition for next gen gaming. So please tell me how the PS3 is a failure when its doing the same as the 360 when it launched but with competition, higher price and the so-called no games?

Well yeah 360 is selling PS3 5 to 1 in September. Like I said awesome good job for the 360. This is the best it can do since Halo 3 is there biggest game and there will not be another game until Halo 4 (not Halo wars since RTS will turn people off). Plus the game that did the most moving of systems was Gears of War. 360′s will never be sold like that again with over 4 million shipped. Why you ask? Well everyone who wants a 360 for the great AAA shooters usually has one.

PS3 outsells 360 everywhere usually except for the US where 360 is outselling it very well. So yeah the 360 showed its big hand already and that is the best they can do because it can’t get bigger than the Halo 3 launch. PS3 hasn’t even had there Gears title yet so I guess MS is probably afraid. Maybe thats why they are trying to add a HD DVD into the 360.

Hey @one, are you forgetting about mass effect which is supposly going to out sell halo 3 and um orange box is doing awsome in sells right know so what are you saying I mean come on there is tons of other great games coming out for the xbox 360 its not only going to sell good because of halo 3 and what gears of war did its going to sell dramaticaly because there is other great games coing out for the xbox 360. Mass Effect will not outsell Halo 3. Period.
Bioshock will not outsell Gears. Period. Bioshock is awesome but it just didn’t have the push that Gears had such as marketing, etc.

Mass Effect will be cool but it will not move systems like Gears did. THe reason why Gears moved some many systems was there wasn’t a game for the 360 that good until then. Once there was a reason to get a 360 a lot of people did. This is why Halo 3 didn’t move as many systems as Gears did since most of the people who want Halo 3 already got a 360 when Gears came out.

Also Gears does not come on PS3 due to Microsoft buying the firtst Gears and its sequel. Gears 3 is not owned by MS so its a safe bet it will be multiplatform. You forget Epic is putting Unreal 3 on PS3 first and its the same engine as Gears. If it was up to Epic they would multiplatform GEars from the beginning.

Japan just doesn’t care about the 360, US does and its even with the two consoles in Europe. Everywhere else is PS3.

When I mentioned the HD DVD I assumed you knew MS was making a new 360 with an HD DVD drive included. Adding a high definition drive in a video game console. Sounds like someone is trying to compete with the PS3

Oh and MS didnt pay for Gears because the xbox 360 was the only one out for them to make the game on duh they had it in the bag and so epic just kept it on the xbox 360.

I have got to say; you cannot call yourself a real gamer if you don’t like the 360 as it currently stands. Lets face it; all that matters is the games and right now it is clear that the 360 has LOADs of good games exclusive to the console and the PS3 has really, well, one (heavenly sword). I mean you would be really ‘stupid’/'not finacially able’ if you actually liked playing games and didn’t get one, missing out on gears, halo, mass effect, bioshock etc. Playstation are going to have some good games comming out but they should of thought about that before releasing a games console that has no good games to sell it. However to be honest, I think its too early to speculate; its possible Sony missed the boat or maybe they will turn the heat up and start releasing some well made killer apps. One thing is for sure competition makes people work harder; which makes games cheaper and better. I hope the competition never ends. I couldn’t care less about PS3 or Xbox fan boys, I just want to play good games.

Let me break things down to you. IF you want to respond then it will be easier.

1) Fallout 3 is going to be on PS3. I linked it for you. Go to the site and it says PS3 right on the site. Its listed as coming on the PS3. If you think its exclusive call them and tell them to stop advertising it on there site for the PS3 and tell them to stop development for it on the PS3.

2) Halo 3 sold a lot of copies of the game not a lot of consoles liked Gears did. Halo 3 came out and they moved 550,000 consoles for September. Gears came out and they shipped 4.4 million consoles for the month of November. Quite a big difference. Even if you add October console sales in with September its still will not be more than how many Gears sold. Period.

3)MS bought Gears of War and Gears of war 2. They do not own the rights to Gears of War 3. Epic has Said plenty of times the first Gears of War will not be on PS3 since its not up to them but owned by MS.

4)I never said Gears outsold Bioshock on launch. I am saying Gears has helped moved the most consoles to date. 4.4 million shipped. No other 360 game even comes close to moving that many consoles. Period. No arguement. Does this mean Gears is the best game? No. I’m not saying that all the other games were crap before than but they weren’t enough to make someone go out and buy a system.

5)Plus you keep saying Gears sold 3 million units at launch. Uh Thats more than Bioshock who hasn’t reached 2 million units sold yet. Your words not mine.

6) Halo 3 sold 170 million DOLAARS not units sold. Its hasn’t even outsold Halo 2.

7) The 360 did not beat anything in September in Japan. It actually sold more during the week October 8th ti the 14th than its did on when Halo 3 came out and guess what? Still Behind PS3, Wii,PS2,DS and the PSP. Well at least it beat the Gameboy advance out there!

8)EA said nothing on Mass Effect except they own the ip not MS. When the devs were asked if Mass Effect would be multiplatform they said not the first one. When asked if the sequels would be multiplatform they said thats in the future but only the first Mass Effect is a 360 exclusive since MS only bought the exclusive rights for the first one.

9) Unreal 3, Devil May Cry 4 are just two multiplatform games that the demo is running on PS3.

10) As for Assassin’s Creed they stated they were having problems with both systems.

11) Halo 3 was on top of Japans chart for a week and then it dropped out of the top 20 the next week.

12)Exclusive content for GTA 4 is there because MS paid for it. GTA 4 is only coming out the same time as PS3 because MS paid for it to be shipped the same day as the PS3. Rockstar planned to put it own 360 6 months to a year later until MS paid for them not to.

I don’t believe that Gears sold 4 million consoles I believe that the Christmas season sold 4 Million 360′s I bought My 360 the day PS3 came out. They had a sale that included Ridge Racer, Live Arcade Disk, GRAw, and Gears of War. I didn’t even know what Gears of War was at the time. As you can tell I was blown away. I was looking to upgrade from the old Xbox. It just so happens the deal I wanted came along. And I also know a bit of people that still have not upgraded. So maybe it’s this season. Plus many of my Playstation friends have converted just because of Live. They see how cool it is and they got to get in because they feel their missing out.

This really gets my goat. People just whining who’s console is better than who’s. I’m an Xbox 360 fan had it on day one! Let’s face it, Xbox 360 is directed at the western market and for hardcore gamers. The high level of online gaming that “Xbox live” delivers pro-longs games ten-fold. There is nothing like coming home sitting on your Xbox (using a highly successful interface).

As regards to a PS3 with the recent price drop i will be buying one, however this console is just in the shadow of Xbox 360 (I believe). I’ve played “resistance of man” and didn’t rate it at all (That could be from playing halo 3 too much!)Then had a quick spin on motor storm and loved it (i hate racing games as well). Now lets put this to rest..

We live in a world where we earn more money and any mother county.. Now what’s the point in arguing about the differences and get the both of them..

Is you are serious about gaming, PS3 is the only choice for the knowleable and serious gamer.

360 was for those without a clue, who rushed into the next gen gaming market, before it was ready.

The 360 is already starting to show it’s age, with many developers having to struggle around it’s limitations.

Whilst developers are still slowly getting to grips with the PS3, in time, that will disappear, the 360′s hardware limitations are here to stay.

I wouldn’t be suprised if Microsoft ditched the 360 prematurely, in the same way they did with the original Xbox, and bring out a new model, with all the stuff the PS3 has.
