X-Men Origins: Wolverine Hits Theaters In May 2009

Gavin Hood’s Wolverine X-Men spinoff has finally got a title. The feature film will be called X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Simple yet effective. I assume that David Goyer’s Magneto spin-off will have the same style of title.
Liev Schrieber is in final negotiations to play William Stryker, a part played by Brian Cos in the 2003 film X2: X-Men United. In the 2003 film, Stryker was a rogue army colonel with a desire to destroy mutants after his mutant son caused his wife’s death.
Stryker was portrayed in the comic book series as a religious fanatic, with a military history which may have involved the Weapon X project. The Weapon X project resulted in Wolverine being given his adamantium skeleton.
Hugh Jackman will return to play Wolverine and will also produce. The film is scheduled to shoot in Australia, New Zealand and New Orleans. Many fans are adamant that the New Orleans location means the X-Men character Gambit may make an appearance in the film.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine hits theaters on May 1, 2009.
