Stephen Colbert For President?

Stephen Colbert, political news satirist, announced on his fake television news show last night that he will be running for president. The mock conservative claimed he will run under both parties: Democratic and Republican, saying that it took guts because he could “lose twice”.
The announcement comes after weeks of comically refusing to disclose if he would run for office or not. Writing in a guest column for Maureen Dowd in Sunday’s New York Times, Colbert said, I am not ready to announce yet — even though it’s clear that the voters are desperate for a white, male, middle-aged, Jesus-trumpeting alternative.”
Will he take this stunt further? Colbert is championed by the YouTube and Wikipedia generation so it will be interesting to see where his fans go with this one.
