Last night we reported that two planes had collided while taxiing at Heathrow Airport. Both aeroplanes suffered damage but thankfully there were no injuries to the passengers. Today, a spokesman for BA has spoken about the incident on flight BA011, calling it a “minor collision”.
He went on to add that no-one was injured and an investigation had been launched. He also said, “Engineers are inspecting the aircraft to ascertain the damage. The passengers have been offloaded and returned to the terminal building. We do not have any more precise details of the collision while it is being investigated.”
The passengers on the plane were offered the choice of a refund or spending the night in a hotel before leaving on the next available flight.
The London Ambulance Service spokesman told reporters, “We were called to the airport at about 10.20pm, but we were stood down around 10 minutes later as there were no injuries.”
Heathrow claims to be one of the world’s busiest airports, handling over 67 million passengers each year.
