Steve Antin To Direct Burlesque Musical

Director Steve Antin has announced that he will be directing new movie, Burlesque. The film is described as a contemporary musical and something between Cabaret and Moulin Rouge!. It follows the story of a young woman who tried to escape her ‘hollow’ past and ends up working in a “neo-burlesque” club in LA.

Now, I think it goes without saying that Dita Von Teese has already been sent a copy of the script - she’d be perfect for the part.

Antin has previously directed the TV show The Pussycat Dolls: Search for the Next Doll and appeared as an actor in The Goonies. Antin also wrote the script but, before I hear you fall to your knees crying “why, God, why?” I’d like to add that Diablo Cody, who wrote the Juno script, rewrote Antin’s version. Could be good!

Antin commented,

“Neo-burlesque is a contemporary take on the traditional burlesque that derived from vaudeville, with singing, dancing, comedy and more tease than striptease,”

What do you make of a Burlesque movie?
