Richard Branson announces Virgin Atlantic to test biofuel on a 747 in 2008

Sir Richard Branson has announced that in 2007 he will use a Boeing 747 from his Virgin Atlantic fleet, to try out biofuel. The British billionaire hopes that his whole fleet will be using biofuels by the next decade, Branson also hopes to provide this clean source of fuel in trains, buses and cars in only three or four years time.

According to Reuters Virgin are working very hard to achieve a cleaner fuel and are working in conjunction with Boeing Co, and also engine maker GE Aviation who are part of General Electric Co., and next year will see a 747 being used without passengers to see how well the biofuel performs.

Richard Branson announced last year that all of his profit from his 51 percent stake in Virgin’s airline and rail businesses will be used over the next ten years to help fight global warming.
