Illness claims – fewer turned down.

In the past 20% of critical illness claims have been turned down. The latest figures from Standard Life show that in 2005 18% were turned down, but in 2006 only 7.5% of claims were rejected.

It is important that when taking out a policy you disclose all the information you can as this is the reason some claims are rejected. Especially as this could be a time when you need help most.

It is essential to disclose all information as to decide the claim an insurer will trawl through your medical records. The result being that they could refuse a payment or claim.

In some cases this can leave families in financial difficulty, and the reality may only come to light when a claim is made
