Chris Pine Is Confirmed To Play Captain Kirk In Star Trek

Last week we told you that Chris Pine was in talks to play Captain Kirk in JJ Abrams’ Star Trek. It looked unlikely as Pine was signed on to play Junior Stemmons in Joe Carnahan’s White Jazz. Today, it’s been reported that Chris Pine has dropped out of White Jazz, meaning he is 100% confirmed to play Captain Kirk in the JJ Abrams’ film.
Talking about Chris Pine’s decision, White Jazz director Joe Carnahan posted on his blog,
“I’ve been talking to him this past week and knew how tough the decision had to be for him. I don’t envy ever being in that spot but I gave him my full support, even if it meant he didn’t do JAZZ. I get it. You don’t get opportunities like that often and I told him as long as he could control as much of that process as possible and not get sucked into doing lesser sequels as a result of taking this gig, then good luck and God bless.”
Pine still has a role in Carnahan’s Killing Pablo, which goes into production in June 2008. Now, I like the look of Chris Pine, but whether he can play Captain Kirk as well as Shatner remains to be seen.
What do you think of JJ Abrams’ casting decisions for Star Trek?

It is going to be so hard for Chris Pine to live up to William Shatner who played Captain James T Kirk. For one thing, who the hell is Chris Pine and will he be able to master the art of being a fighter and also a great lover, just like Shatner all them years ago.
