Britain’s Got Talent star Connie Talbot Has Signed Six-figure Recording Deal

Britain’s Got Talent star Connie Talbot has signed a six-figure recording deal.
Six-year-old Connie wowed viewers of the ITV1 talent show in the summer and has now been snapped up by the Rainbow Recording Company.
Her first album will be released on the 26th November.
Connie’s mother Sharon said that “We are so proud of her - we knew she could do it, Connie’s over the moon and can’t wait till the album comes out. Connie loves singing so for her it’s a dream come true. It’s her hobby and she loves it.”
It’s said that Simon Cowell originally promised to sign Connie to his Sony BMG label, but he later changed his mind, deciding that she was too young for a recording career.
Asked to comment on the Rainbow deal, Cowell said: “I am absolutely delighted for her and wish her all the luck in the world.”
What do you think is she to young for this kind of fame?

Connie is unusual because normally we assume interpretation on the level she’s at takes more life experience than a 6 year old can have. She is as close to self made as I can think of. She has earned for herself the best age appropriate diva education that can be arranged. I’d estimate half a million American dollars start to finish, which her parents do not have. She NEEDS the money. Her parents can let her work at what she loves to do and keep her level headed by avoiding celebrity activities and keeping the childhood stuff a high priority (”Connie, if you don’t clean your room and get good grades we won’t be going to New York for that Carnegi Hall recital”). She needs, and richly deserves, childrens theater, piano lessons, dance classes, voice training when it’s time, music academy, music conservatory, etc. Good luck to Connie and her family.
First off a quick correction Kelly:
Connie didn’t actually sing “Somewhere” over the rainbow.
She actually tried to sing “Over the rainbow”.
Connie does well for her age but then again we only got to her sing “over the rainbow” with any real confidence, her rendition of “Ben” wasn’t that great.
I’m not sure that Connie is even the best 6-8 year old singer that Britain has, If there were a similar contest featuring only children under 10, I’m not certain that Connie would really stand out that much.Remember Connie practiced with her karaoke machine at home, I bet there are thousands of younsters that practice singing with Karaoke machines, just like Connie. The only reason she stood out probably is because most parents probably thought there own child was too young to compete with adults on the Britain’s got talent show. Her cute looks obviously won over a huge amount of “arrgh” factor votes rather than purely the quality of her voice or performance.
I for one am not looking forward to hearing this six year olds voice on the radio, It’s not really music but more novelty that’s making her fortune at the moment.
So no she shouldn’t be exposed to the show business worls at the moment she’s far too young and raw at her “talent”.
I don’t really like the way Connie mum talks either, saying things like, it’s always been Connies dream, ehh hello she’s only been alive 6 years, it’s not as if she has been dreaming that much or waiting that long.
If Connies dreams have come true at 6 then what has she got to look forward to when she becomes an adult, not alot I suspect.
Connie Talbot, no thanks not right now!
Kelvin, there’s a big difference, developmentally, between six and 8,9,10 years old. Six year olds might amaze us with unusual technical skill on a piano or violin but they don’t have enough life experience to interpret and they don’t do it singing. Connie got the job done on interpretation in a high stress situation. Youtube has Micheal Jackson and Judy Garland singing the songs as older children. Ignore technique and compare interpretations.
There’s a new video, posted yesterday, of Connie in the recording studio. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wN5FmiWmc10 Her technique is up and she’s carrying the show. The album will sell. (The Got Talent performances are still more potent because they are Connie live and in command.)
I have a small worry they might not have deferred to her enough on phrasing and interpretation, where she stands out. Now the money’s in the bank, time for all those expensive diva lessons.
