The Spanish driver hoped that he would do very well with McLaren-Mercedes this year, but he did not expect team mate Lewis Hamilton to do so well in his rookie year. The signed letter of intent that Fernando Alonso signed reportedly says he has a three-year contract with the French team, and is thought to be worth $100 to the Spanish driver.
The deal does however hang of weather Alonso can get out of his McLaren contract which still has another year left to run.
