MoD Announce They Will Inject More Money Into Injured Troops Compensation

The Ministry of Defence has claimed that the most seriously injured troops will receive more cash under reforms to the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme. Des Browne, Defence Secretary, has said that soldiers who were hurt in the line of duty will be eligible for payouts for all injuries suffered in a single incident. This is rather than receiving payouts for just the three most serious injuries.

Any personnel who have been injured since the start of the scheme in April 2005 will receive further payments to ensure they obtain the same benefits.

The maximum payout will remain at £285,000 under the proposals - which will now go for consultation.
