The CG-animated movie adaptation of Thundercats - the Y-front sporting anthropomorphic felines who rocked the 80’s - has finally found a director. Don’t get too excited though, because the director bringing Lion-O and Co to screen will be Jerry O’Flaherty - the man who’s made his living as an at director of video games.
Now, before you get totally disheartened, O’Flaherty was the art director on the massive Gears of War video game. The game had the spook factor on point and the most of the shot choices are exceptionally cinematic. With the gap between high-budget video games and movies slowly bridging, it’s likely that Jerry will pull this off.
O’Flaherty will also be working on the script with Paul Sopocy. The film will focus on the coming of age of Lion-O, who flees the dying planet Thundera with a collection of other furry friends and lands on Third Earth, where he does battle with Mumm-Ra.

This will be interesting for Thundercats fans particularly for ones who grew up watching the cartoon from the 80s & 90s.
