Universal Pictures Acquires Rights To Hampton Sides’ I Am a Man

The screen rights to I Am a Man, a book Hampton Sides is writing about the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr in Memphis, have been acquired by Universal Pictures. Mark Bowden, the man behind Black Hawk Down, will be writing the script with Stuber/Parent’s Scott Stuber and Mary Parent producing with Marc Platt.

Hampton Sides is the bestselling author of “Ghost Soldiers” and “Blood and Thunder: The Epic Story of Kit Carson and the Conquest of the American West”. The latter of those two books is currently being developed by DreamWorks.
