Pixar have apparently taken a road trip to Edgar Rice Burroughs archives to do some research for a trilogy of John Carter of Mars films. In attendance for the trip was director Andrew Stanton, Mark Andrews, screenwriter and producers of WALL-E/ Pixar executive Jim Morris. These guys must make up the creative team on John Carter. Not a bad team I must say!
The Pixar team have also confirmed to EBZine that the first of the three John Carter films would hit theatres before 201. Could this be because the world is supposed to end in 2012? Probably not, it’s more likely that it was when they had an opening on their schedule. May I say, their schedule looks very exciting indeed:
- June 27, 2008: WALL-E
- 2009: Up
- 2010: Toy Story 3
- 2011-2012: It could be either John Carter or Brad Bird’s 1906
The movie will follow the story of Civil War vertern John Carter, who is transplanted to Mars where he discovers a lush, wildly diverse planet whose main inhabitants are 12-foot tall green barbarians. Carter finds himself a prisoner of these creatures and escapes, only to encounter Dejah Thoris, Princess of Helium, who is in desperate need of a saviour.
