High School Musical vs Grease

High School Musical is currently the most popular musical film around. It has hoards of fans all over the world but, for the older generation, HSM isn’t a patch on Grease. The movie was first released in 1978 and is still known and loved today. Do you think High School Musical can do the same?

The current popularity of both High School Musical and High School Musical 2 is phenomenal. It seems that every child between 3 and 13 is in love with the movies, but I don’t know whether it has many fans above that age. On the other hand, Grease is loved by all ages and I think that the 29 years it’s been around is proof.

But hey, everyone has their own opinions, so what I want to know is:

    I think age does come into it but you can’t deny the fact that Grease was and still is a great family movie that has all the fun and laughter that kids love, but also has some grea adult humor that goes right over children’s heads.

    For me, High School Musical is a little too childlike. I could believe the characters in Grease, but there’s something so fake about the characters in HSM.

    It’s Grease all the way for me. It has stood, and continues to stand, the test of time.

    High School Musical is not the same as Grease. High School Musical is indeed targeted to very young viewers as this is a disney channel movie. Grease has more complicated story, has more passion, more romance and off course, has more negative things inside the story. Personally, I will not let my 5 years old daughter watch Grease, but it is ok with High School Musical. Which one I like? As a grown up, I prefer Grease. As a parent, I prefer High School Musical.

    I'm a Gen-Y gal n love GREASE(the movie)!! HSM is nothin' in front of it..it's just stupid comparin' both the movies as we clearly know which one's the best!
