Michael Caine Praises Heath Ledger’s Performance In The Dark Knight

The Dark Knight is a film that, to begin with, I wasn’t that excited about. It seems with each and every post I write about it I get more and more excited. I love the fact that Heath Ledger is the Joker but now Oscar winner Michael Caine is praising Ledger‘s performance as The Joker, I actually can’t wait to see what he brings to the movie.

Speaking to reporters in New York City, Michael Caine said,

“I tell you the big surprise in the new ‘Batman’ — Heath Ledger as the Joker, he’s fantastic. He’s gone in a different direction than Jack (Nicholson) … Jack was like a really scary old, nasty old uncle with a funny face. Heath is like the most murderous psychopath you’ve ever seen on the screen,”

“I was waiting for Batman’s guests, but (the Joker) had taken over the elevator with — he has seven dwarfs and… oh! wait until you see them. So, I’d never seen any of it and the elevator door opened and they came out and I forgot every bloody line. They frightened the bloody life out of me …. It’s amazing and it’s so different from Jack.”

Now, Michael Caine is one of my idols and if he is that excited by Heath’s performance I think I may actually have kittens when I see the next Batman movie.
