The amazing Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have kicked off their latest U.S. tour, rocking their way through several cuts from the newly released ‘magic’, a collection of songs that mix up-temp pop-rock sound with stinging social criticism.
Fans who attended the sold-out Hartford Civic Center were sent into a frenzy as the band came on stage immediately launching into “Radio Nowhere”, a song from the newly released album – the band’s first since 2002s The Rising.
Bruce Springsteen hit the road as a solo act in 2005 behind his sombre “Devils and Dust” album. Last year, Springsteen released the Grammy award winning “We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions”
It was all about rock and roll when the 58-year-old and his bandmates took to the stage, ripping through several anthems from the vast Springsteen discography. They played hits such as “Badlands,” “Born to Run” and “The Promised Land”.
The band was made up of Clarence Clemons on saxophone and percussion, Garry Tallent on bass, Roy Bittan and Danny Federici on keyboards, Nils Lofgren on guitars, Max Weinberg on drums and Steven Van Zandt (The Sopranos).
Springsteen and the E Street Band will be making their way across the US through November before starting their month-long Europe leg of the tour. While no further dates have been announced, fans and industry watchers expect the announcement of more tour dates that will keep the band on the road well into 2008.
