In a report from Reuters the Major League Baseball has announced a new deal that will use the service of two companies; these are Medialink Worldwide Inc and also the Netherlands’ Philips Electronics. The service that these two companies will provide a more effecting way to track the use of the game broadcast footage. The service will also be able to detail which sponsor logos are to be captured in background shots during the game, especially when players in the background are celebrating a win.
Vice President of programming and business affairs for MLB, Elizabeth Scott has said “It brings intelligence that’s beyond anything we’ve been able to know about how our game assets are used,” she also went on to say “It’s being able to better know who sees our game and in what context after it has aired live,” she said in a telephone interview. “That knowledge is power in myriad ways.”
It is hoped that the Major League Baseball will use this new service in time of the 2007 playoffs and also the World Series in October, this new deal is only until March but it is hoped that the agreement can be extended.
