Steven Gerrard was reportedly shaken up today when his black Bentley convertible was involved in a road accident in which a 10-year-old boy suffered a suspected broken leg. The England and Liverpool star was travelling in his convertible in Birkdale, Southport, Merseyside, when the incident occurred.
It has been reported that the boy ran into the side of the car near the entrance of Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School. A spokesman for Football star Gerrard – who was awarded an MBE in March – has said he had been driving “very slowly” and comforted the youngster until the paramedics arrived on the scene. He went on to say,
“Steven later attended a police station where he produced his driving documents as a matter of routine and made a statement about the accident. He was distressed over the accident and has been in contact with the boy’s family to check his progress and plans to visit him in the next couple of days.”
A Merseyside Police spokesman said, “We are able to confirm that a road traffic accident happened in Grantham Road, Birkdale at 3.15pm when a car was involved in a collision with a pedestrian. A 10-year-old boy was injured and suffered a suspected broken leg. The 27-year-old driver of the car stopped following the incident to assist officers with their inquires at the scene.”
I think it’s great to see such high status celebrities are still down to earth and aren’t afraid to help out in an emergency
