The United Nations has sent a special envoy to troubled Burma and has managed to hold crucial talks with the opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi. She is being held under house arrest, but it is thought that Suu Kyi has now been moved to a government-run guesthouse which was the meeting place between her and the UN official.
It is not known what has been achieved by these talks but one thing is certain, things need to be resolved soon as the trouble will only get worse, and just recently a video was released of a monk covered in bruises while floating down a river.
It is not known exactly how many people have been killed since the protests began, as figures range from 10 to 200. But if the protests last, I fear that this number will increase.
