Two Year Old Survives After A 70ft Drop

A two-year-old girl has survived after falling from the seventh floor of a block of flats. The toddler was taken to hospital and her condition is now said to be stable. The girl had fallen an astonishing 70ft from a window onto a scaffolding platform on the second floor, police have said.

The fall happened at Arthur Court in Charlotte Despard Avenue, Battersea, South west London on Saturday. A Scotland Yard spokesman said,

“There was no crime reported, it is being treated as an accident,”

The child, called Alisha Mbala, is thought to have sustained a broken leg from the fall and remarkably, no other injuries. Wire mesh on the floor of a temporary builders’ hoist saved the girl from death.

A women called Carmen told the Sun newspaper,

“She was so lucky. She would have been killed if she had fallen just a few centimetres away on to the scaffolding poles or the pavement.”
