As I watched the Sunday’s Grand Prix which was being held in Japan I thought that this race was going to be very boring, as the whole weekend has seen monsoon conditions and the start of the race was the same which was why it was started under the safety car.
McLaren’s new wonder boy Lewis Hamilton qualified in first place so he was right behind the safety car with McLaren team mate Fernando Alonso right behind him. This was playing right into Hamilton’s hands as no one was allowed to pass him, but he did have one feat in his mind, what if the safety car stayed out for the whole race that would have been a nightmare for Hamilton as he was two stopping which means that those one a one stop strategy would sales right past him.
McLaren’s main title rival Alonso was in the same situation as him so he did not have to worry about that, and also Hamilton’s other rivals from Ferrari were having their own troubles, as they started the race on intermediates instead of the full wet tires, but the race director told them that they had to come In and change to full wets, which pushed them down into last.
Well the decision was made to bring the safety car in after a number of laps which now meant that the race was on, and Lewis did not waste any time in pulling an advantage of almost two seconds by the end of just one lap, so now the race was well underway, but Alonso was keeping the distance of about 2 seconds, myself I think that Fernando wanted to keep a little distance from Hamilton so that he was away from the amount of spray that was coming from the back of his car.
I do not want to bore you all with details of the race as I will go on for hours, but the best news is that Lewis Hamilton won the race in great style, which now sees him with a 12 point lead and there is only 2 races to go.
I am hoping that Lewis Hamilton will be crowned the Formula 1 World Champion in his rookie year, but do you think he will go on to win, and do he deserve it?
