Gordon Brown Attacks Drug Taking Celebrities: Kate Moss, Pete Doherty, Amy Winehouse
Reportedly Gordon Brown has accused celebrities who take a “casual attitude” to drug use of being bad role models.

Gordon did not give specific names of stars but said it should be made clear the people concerned are not “above the law”.

This has all come about as part of a campaign he launched on Saturday with former Olympic runner Kelly Holmes.

Gordon said that “We have got celebrities who take a very casual attitude to drugs, who think their standing in the community makes them above the law on these matters. We have to send a very clear message not only that we will not decriminalise drugs, but that this is unacceptable behaviour and the vast majority of our young people will never fall for this.”

These stars Amy Winehouse, Pete Doherty and Kate Moss as we all know are among numerous stars reputed for taking drugs in recent years.

Gordon said that “We have to make it clear that we as a community stand up against those who would sell drugs, those who would be casual in their attitude to drugs and those who think that they are above the law when it comes to drugs, Winners don’t take drugs.”

This is very true. A lot of children look up to celebrities and if they are setting a bad example then this is what some not all children follow because they think if they are doing it then it must be cool when it is not.

What do you think about this matter?

yeah yeah what a load of bollocks.

I think it is ridiculous to suggest that people like Pete Doherty + Amy Winehouse could ever advocate drug abuse, but quite the opposite. Both Amy and Pete have compromised their careers because of their battle with addiction. Amy had to cancel her tour this year and Peter has had endless trouble in his life due to drug addiction.

On a different note. Drugs have been rife in the music and the arts for many years. Many 18th Century writers wrote literature with references to Opium addiction. In the music industry some of the best musicians have been known addicts and this has never been the focus of our attention. Billie Holiday, Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, Kurt Cobain to name a few. Why is it such an issue now. Why suddenly are we ignoring the music and focussing on the drugs. If anyone is to blame here it is the media. Newspapers have gone more and more towards celebrity gossip, with less focus on what used to be “news”. Why? Perhaps because it is so much easier to exaggerate and invent stories about celebrities with drug issues than go out and actually do some work. Find facts and give us some real news!!
