The Beijing Olympics will drive up sales of this game on the Nintendo Wii and DS; it should become a best-seller for both games systems.
Sega has claimed that they expect the game to sell around four million copies that will be a pretty good result if it in fact happens.
I personally will look forward to buying the Nintendo Wii version as it will make use of the motion-sensing controls and in the Olympics swinging the Wii Remote for hammer throws and other events will be cool.

The events in Sonic & Mario at the Olympics Games Include:
- Track – 100m and 400m
- Track – 4x100m Relay
- Track – 110m and 400m Hurdles
- Aquatics – 4x100m Freestyle
- Aquatics – 100m Freestyle

- Field – Triple Jump
- Field – Long Jump
- Field – Pole Vault
