Comedy star Owen Wilson has said he would be “very happy” for a film, in which he stars as a man with suicidal tendencies, to be released. The Wedding Crashes actor, who reportedly tried to commit suicide last month, stars in The Darjeeling Limited and plays a character who deliberately crashes his motorcycle hoping to commit suicide.
Wes Anderson, director, was prepared to postpone the release of the film due to the circumstances but said Wilson insisted he did not want the release date to be moved.
Anderson said,
“That’s not what I want and not what Owen wants. Owen’s very happy we’re releasing it now.”
Roman Coppola, the films screenwriter added,
“There’s the show business adage of ‘the show must go on’. We’re all sympathetic about our friend’s well-being. I haven’t spoken with him about this but I think he’d be very eager that the film be shown. He’s proud of the work we did.
“In terms of art and personal life echoing one another, that’s the proper way to make a movie.”
I totally agree. Do you think they should push back the release date until Owen Wilson makes a full recovery?
