Oh boy yet another from LaCie, they have yet again rolled out another device, this one is the LaCie 500GB Ethernet Disk mini Home Edition personal media server which will let you save, show, sync and share” your media, all sounds pretty good so far.
They recently released a 500GB external hard drive which means to me than they love anything with 500GB in tow. This new half terabyte Ethernet Disk mini Home Edition will let you stream multimedia files via DLNA-compatible UPnP media players which in simple terms for those who do not know will act as an iTunes music server.
It also has the option where you can set up a free remote access to either your personal information via LaCie’s media portal or from the gigabit Ethernet port or USB 2.0 port. It also features additional USB jack for backing for backing up your data to another HDD external.
Launch date is set for October with a price tag of $199

UPnP means more than just an iTunes server….Depending on the device used, such as a Sony Playstation 3 or Xbox 360 — music, pictures, or video can be streamed to anywhere in the house.
