Biggest Brand: Kobe Bryant or Michael Jordan

Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan are very close when it comes down to sports and how big their names are in the celebrity world, but which name is the biggest brand.
According to the Forbes Celebrity 100 list, Kobe Bryant is placed at no.25 while Michael Jordan is only one place under him at no.26.
Now they make this list based on what they say is “a combination of earnings and sizzle”, but what I want to know is how you feel about Kobe Bryant being a bigger name than Michael Jordan.

I definitely wouldnt have believed that Kobe the Brand would be bigger the MJ, not until I heard the stories out of the Asian Tour Kobe just went on. I have family out there and he said it was like crazier than the Pope being there (please God dont strike me for saying that…). I think Kobe has got a lot of things against him, but if he wins another championship, I have no doubt Kobe will be the biggest brand in all of sports, let alone basketball!
I think kobe is a bigger brand than michael. He is dramatic, dynamic and charasmatic. Michael has all these things but kobe is more controvesial and polarizing which add to his intrigue.

I love it. You can’t disrespect MJ, but Kobe gets a lot of disrespect. This just shows the haters how big Kobe is, and it’s because he’s an even more exciting player than Jordan.
Well, Kobe is definitely the bigger namesake, but the era has to be taken into consideration. Kobe is living in a time where the whole world is taking interest in basketball while Jordan played in a time where basketball wasn’t as worldwide (parts of Europe outside of America). This means that people in China know Kobe and buy whatever has his name because they are familar with him and he is the best thing CURRENTLY (I am not going pro or con, just saying the record book has not been closed yet so we really don’t know if he will be the best ever) in basketball. However, Jordan’s name might not be as recognized in places like China because, well, time has passed him by and it is highly unlikely there is a huge population base in Asia that actually experienced the Jordan era ( I should know because I am an Asian that lived during that era and I’m glad I got to experience it). What does this mean in short? Kobe is more worldwide because the NBA is more worldwide now. Jordan is limited America/Europe because the NBA was not as worldwide back then so countries that just tuned in to the NBA might not really know or idolize him. So, Kobe has the benefit of the NBA expanding to help him spread his name while Jordan didn’t.
Kobe needs to thank MJ!! Jordan set it so guys like Kobe and King James can make the name or brand they have!! Just like MJ must thank Dr. J!!

I’m a fan of Kobe Bryant, but I think MJ is a bigger brand right now because he got his own brand instead labeled under Nike.

MJ is bigger, no way kobe is bigger. Kobe is a great baller but what about the shoes AND clothes from MJ are all over the world. I live in Europe and everywere you can find MJ brand clothes and shoes. Almost never seen kobe stuff here.
More people know MJ then Kobe. I dont thing as many people will know kobe over 20 years from now, then people know MJ
