Media Centre Now Availible With Nintendo Wii Thanks To X-OOM Software

Microsoft and Sony’s claims they can provide gamers with media centre qualities over the Nintendo Wii are set to end after an announcement from software maker X-OOM. X-OOM has said it will be launching a new piece of software in October which means that the Nintendo Wii will turn into a fully functional media centre.
The software addition will mean users can access all digital media on a PC via the Wii’s built-in Wi-Fi capability. Users will be able to access their music, photos and films on their Wii without having to have the PC in the same room as them.
For a long time, The Xbox 360 and PS3 have claimed to be ahead in the best console race for their media centres but unlike the Wii, they are unable to play DivX files. Unless you hack a PS3 or Xbox 360 there is no chance of you being able to play DivX files. With the Wii, it comes as standard!
How will this effect the popularity of the three consoles?
The X-OOM Media Centre for Wii is priced at a reasonable £29.99 and will be available online.
