Jason Bateman Joins Cast Of State Of Play

Jason Bateman is rapidly gaining more respect in Hollywood. His career is going from strength to strength as he signs on to star alongside Brad Pitt and Edward Norton in Kevin Macdonald’s conspiracy thriller State Of Play.

Bateman is set to play a reported who is chasing a story in the big screen American version of the acclaimed BBC series, which originally starred John Simm and Bill Nighy. Director David Yates caught the eye of Warner Bros. and the Harry Potter producers.

There has been no word on whether Bateman’s character will correlate with anyone in the television series, but it’s likely he will be playing a version of Dan Foster, the journalist played by James McAvoy in the original series.

Batmen has landed a string of high-profile roles after his brilliant Arrested Development was cancelled. Since then, he’s been seen acting his heart out in The Kingdom, Juno, the upcoming Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium and in Berg’s superhero comedy, Hancock alongside Will Smith and Charlize Theron. And in case you missed the early reports, Norton and Pitt – who have been cast for some time – will hope to recreate their old Fight Club magic as, respectively, a congressman whose girlfriend is murdered and his old campaign manager-turned-reporter, who heads up a newspaper’s investigation.
