Batman Special Effects Technician Dies During Batmobile Stunt

We bring you some shocking news from the set of Batman sequel The Dark Knight. A special effects technician has been killed when the 4×4 truck he was driving hit a tree. The man died when the vehicle which was carrying a camera platform, crashed on a test run while following a stunt vehicle which is thought to be the Batmobile.

Emergency services were immediately called to Longcross, near Chertsey in Surrey, but the man was pronounced dead at he scene. A spokeswoman for Warner Bros has said that no actors were involved and the accident did not happen on set or during filming.

She continued,

“Warner Bros Pictures and the entire cast and crew of The Dark Knight are deeply saddened by this tragedy and their hearts and prayers go out to the family and loved ones of the deceased.”

The police and Health & Safety Executive have launched a jont investigation into the accident. A HSE spokesman confirmed that two vehicles were involved in a “filming production exercise” when the crash happened.

He said, “It appears one vehicle was undertaking some stunt driving and another 4×4 provided the camera platform to film it. The second vehicle and a camera operator were involved in a collision with a tree.”
